Wheelchair Sporting Events in Scotland

Tri Together

Tri Together is a triathlon event organised by the Leonard Cheshire charity in collaboration with Triathlon Scotland. The event was first launched in 2011 in London, and its immediate success resulted in the organisation of a second event in Scotland. Tri Together takes place in Glasgow during the month of September, and the event is open to wheelchair users, individuals with other disabilities, and non-disabled people alike. There are also a series of junior races that welcome young participants aged 8 years old and over. Wheelchair Sporting Events in London

The Wheelchair Tennis Camp

This is an annual event organised by the Lawn Tennis Association. The camp is subsidised so that wheelchair users of all ages and tennis skill levels can have a go at this sport and improve their skills at no additional cost. The Wheelchair Tennis Camp takes place in London during the summer weekends, and participants can benefit from the advice of experienced wheelchair tennis coaches throughout. All sporting equipment that may be required is provided, and there is a range of accommodation options available to participants at discounted rates. The London Development Program for Wheelchair Basketball

This sports program was developed by Sport England, the Mayor of London's Legacy Fund, and The Lord's Taverners cricket and disability club, following the success of the 2012 London Paralympics. The program was created with the objective of introducing the benefits of sport (and in particular of basketball) to wheelchair users, irrespective of their age and ability level. The London Development Program has already donated dozens of specialist sport wheelchairs to several basketball clubs in the British capital. The program also offers volunteer placements, the opportunity to take coaching qualifications, open days, and taster wheelchair basketball events open to the general public. The Powerchair Football Festival

The Powerchair Football Festival is a one-day event organised by the Wheelchair Football Association. The festival takes place during the month of August in Northamptonshire, and it offers wheelchair users from all over the country the opportunity to learn more about powerchair football, irrespective of their age, gender, previous knowledge of the sport, or disability type. Once registered, participants only need to attend the event, as all necessary equipment is provided by the organisers. The Powerchair Football Festival is attended by representatives of the UK's 37 wheelchair football clubs, so following the event, participants who want to take their hobby further can contact their local club. Wheelchair Sports Spectacular

Wheelchair Sports Spectacular is one of the leading wheelchair sporting events in the country. The event takes place over two days in the Welsh capital, and is supported by the local city council and the Rotary Club of Cardiff Bay. During those two days, wheelchair users of all ages have the chance to try more than 20 different sports, including basketball, rugby, table tennis, golf, fencing, handcycling, powerchair football, and archery, to mention just a few. Wheelchair Sporting Events in the South East

Wheelchair Basketball Taster Sessions in Brighton

These sessions are the result of a joint initiative launched by Sport Brighton, the local authority, and the British Wheelchair Basketball Association. The sessions take place every Monday evening during term time at the Falmer Campus, which belongs to the University of Brighton. The objective of this sporting event is to offer wheelchair users the opportunity to sample wheelchair basketball in a recreational manner thanks to this non-competitive event.
