Are motorized wheelchairs covered by insurance?
Most private insurance companies, Medicare, and Medicaid cover durable
medical equipment like motorized wheelchairs. We can help contact your
insurance company to find out if your policy has provisions for
motorized or electric wheelchairs.
How much will my insurance pay towards the purchase?
If you qualify, most insurance companies will pay 60% to 80% of a set
allowable for a electric wheelchair. The amount depends on the type of
electric wheelchair you choose and on your state of residence.
Who is responsible for the cost not covered by insurance?
Most secondary insurance providers will cover the remaining cost of the
wheel chair. If you dont have secondary insurance, or the cost would
create a financial hardship, special consideration can be made for the
purchase of the wheel chair. Contact us for more information.

How do I know if I
will qualify for the wheelchair?
Most insurance providers use similar criteria to determine that a
motorized wheelchair is a medically justified. Most require a
Certificate of Medical Necessity, also known as a CMN, to be completed
by your physician. This form has specific questions for your physician
to determine if you meet the necessary criteria to qualify for the
motorized wheelchair.
Along with the CMN, a written
prescription from your physician is required, and in many cases,
physicians historical notes documenting the need for the electric
wheelchair.
Qualification for the wheelchair
also depends on your type of insurance and your physicians
recommendations. We can contact both your insurance and your physician
to help you find out if a motorized wheelchair is right for you.
How
long does it take to receive my motorized wheelchair?
In the
continental U.S., the average delivery time to 7-10 days after we
receive the necessary paperwork from your physician.
How
do I submit a claim to my insurance for a wheel chair?
As an
authorized or preferred provider for Medicare and many private
insurance providers, we will help you submit all necessary paperwork to
your insurance for you, once the wheelchair has been delivered. There
are so many different types of wheel chairs, how do I know what is best
for me? We will gladly help you find the correct equipment based on
your body type, and how you plan to use the wheel chair.

How does Mobile Wheelchairs help me obtain a motorized wheelchair?
When you speak to a Mobile Wheelchairs representative, they will obtain
the necessary information from you to do the following: Verify you have
the type of Insurance coverage that will cover medical equipment like a
motorized wheelchair. Send a prepared CMN and prescription request to
your physician. Order your motorized wheelchair to be delivered to your
home. - Arrange for setup and training in your home. Submit billing
paperwork to insurance in your name.
What if I dont qualify for a wheel chair? You have
the option of purchasing a motorized wheelchair or scooter. We do not
sell wheelchairs or scooters, but will gladly refer you to one of our
